LAURAFED: Form & Function
May 09 2017
I have discovered LAURAFED during the last edition of Milano Fashion Week. While waiting for another fashion show, this unique brand catched my attention. After their presentation I fell in love with their creations.
Italian brand LAURAFED was created by Laura Federici and Luca Sciamanna. The brand was born out of the passion to create unique objects mixing poor and precious materials in a perfect balance of form and function. An innovative and ambitious project driven by the care for details and the quality of "Made in Italy," where the use of natural and sustainable materials does not compromise the elegance and glamour of the final product.
The brand creates handbags and clutches with metallic details combined with feathers, tassels and beads. The contrast between the poor and the precious is highlighted by the precise work with wood and gold.
Many of their creations are using plumage and studs just to enhance the silhouette of each design. The inspiration in art deco is obvious in their recent SS17 collection while using darker shades of green but also pastels like pink. The collection is harmonic, well balanced and smart. Which one's your favourite?
